Freshly cut Pink Lemonade Handmade Soap

It has been quite a while since I've made a batch of soap.  Recently, I received a special order in my Etsy shop for Pink Lemonade Handmade Soap.  I didn't have enough on hand to send my customer, so I had to make a brand new batch.

It has been around 36 hours since I made this gorgeous soap, and it's  so it's cutting time!  I put it in the freezer for 15 minutes first to ensure that none of the soap gets stuck to the mold.

I held a piece of cardboard down the middle of the mold as I poured first the pink side, then the yellow.  Out of the mold, this is what the bottom looks like.  It is definitely not perfect, but that is the beauty of handmade items--every item is unique.

Time to bring out the soap cutter made in Missouri by Bud Haffner.  We bought this several years ago and it has not disappointed us at all.  His Etsy shop is here.

What a typical freshly cut bar looks like.

Now it's time to cure for the next four weeks.  The fragrance of this is very light and summery!  Such a lovely scent!

There will be a few bars of this left once I fill the special order.  If you're interested in purchasing a bar, visit my shop around August 20 to get your own.

Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for a tall, cold glass of pink lemonade.  Cheers!

Paix.

I'm in love with this SOAP!

I know it sounds slightly irrational, but I made this Apricot Freesia soap a couple of days ago and just cut it this evening.  I am in LOVE with it!  J'adore ce savon!

The apricot color is of course reminiscent of actual apricots.  And I used white and yellow to represent freesia.  It smells like a lovely late spring day!  Lovely!

Watch me cut the soap here:

and unveil it here:

And here are the crêpes that Sean made for school.  Elles sont délicieuses!

I hope you have a lovely week!

Trying something new--English Tea Rose soap

In the last couple of months, I have tried many new soap fragrances.  Most have been fabulous and wonderful to work with.  Unfortunately, two fragrances produced soap that seized on me.  It is always humbling and frustrating when this happens.  I like to think I am very careful when I make my soaps.  However, some fragrance oils don't like to be mixed at temperatures around 115 degrees Fahrenheit and they don't like to be too agitated.  Lesson learned.  This new soap, English Tea Rose, looked horrendous at first after plopping the mixture into the molds.  I was scared it wouldn't turn out at all.  However, just one day later, it looks almost charming.  Once this soap cures, there may be a few bars that aren't perfect, but that will just mean we will get to keep it and use it ourselves.

Here is our English Tea Rose soap, put to bed.

These soaps smell like rosewater and the pink parts contain rose clay.  Rose clay is a mild kaolin clay that can be used on normal to dry skin to gently cleanse and exfoliate while improving the skin's circulation.

Look for it around June 2, 2014.

New soaps this week!

Finally, I have found the time to label, package, and list all the soaps I made last month!  I have eight soaps going up for sale and I am very excited.  It's funny how making soaps hits me in waves.  I hadn't made anything new for several months and then last month I got 3 random orders on my Etsy shop and bam!  I was inspired to make several batches right then and there.

It takes at least four weeks for soap to cure and that time has finally arrived.  Getting all these soaps packaged up and ready for sale means there will be more room on my curing rack.  It will be time to make new soaps soon!  Good thing Spring Break is coming up so I will have a lot more free time, at least for a while.

Here's a peek at the soaps available this week:

1.  Dragon's Blood

2.  Lime Mint

3.  Verbena

4.  Very Sexy for Men

5.  Sunflower

6.  Tangerine

7.  Vanilla

8.  Fresh Ginger Lime

I will try to find the time to blog about each soap all this week.  See you soon!
